Everything aging at once
A town that built out fast has a garage door problem that arrives on a schedule. The doors all went in within a few years of each other, they were all the same builder grade specification, and they all reach the same failure points at roughly the same time.
Rollers first. The plastic ones that come on a cheap door crack at the bearing and the door starts sounding like it is coming apart. Hinges next, splitting where they pivot. Then springs, because a door that has been cycling twice a day for fifteen years has done its ten thousand.
None of that is a new door. A steel door whose sections are straight has a lot of life left in it, and re-rollering, re-hinging and re-springing it costs a fraction of replacement.
When the door is worth replacing
There are three honest reasons to replace rather than repair. The sections are damaged, from a bumper or from years of weather. The door is uninsulated and there is living space over or beside the garage. Or you want the house to look different from the road.
That last one is a legitimate reason and nobody should be embarrassed by it. The garage door is usually the largest single surface anyone sees from the street, and changing it changes the house more than almost anything else at that price.
One customer here wrote that their new door gave the house so much added personality. That was the entire point of the job.
Openers, keypads and the way families actually use a garage
In a lot of Harrisburg houses the garage is the door the family really uses. That means the door is cycling six or eight times a day rather than two, which puts it on a shorter maintenance clock than the manual assumes.
It also means the keypad on the outside matters. It is what stops a key living under a flowerpot, and it is what lets a kid get in after school. Keypads get programmed and handed over working rather than left in a box.

I have been using Entrance Masters for almost 2 years, and from the first encounter the service has been absolutely fantastic. If the sections are straight and sound, repair. Replace if the sections are damaged, if you need insulation because there is living space over the garage, or if you want the house to look different.
A belt drive is much quieter than a chain, and a wall mount unit beside the torsion shaft is quieter again and frees up the ceiling.
