New construction doors and what they come with
Locust has taken a lot of new building over the last decade, and a new subdivision garage door is almost always the builder's cheapest option. That usually means an uninsulated steel door, plastic rollers, light gauge hinges and a chain drive opener on a plain rail.
None of that is broken. It is just specified to a price, and it shows up around year five when the rollers start cracking and the door gets loud. Swapping the rollers and hinges for better parts on an otherwise sound door is one of the cheapest improvements anybody can make to a house.
Insulation is the other one. If the garage is attached and shares a wall with a bedroom or a bonus room, an insulated door is quieter and holds temperature. On a detached garage nobody heats, it matters much less and we will say so.
Older homes on the county roads
Away from the highway, Locust still has plenty of older houses with detached garages and workshops. Those are the openings with odd sizes and low headroom, and the doors on them are often decades old.
An old door is not automatically a door that needs replacing. A sound wood or steel door with good sections can be re-sprung, re-rollered and re-tracked for far less than a new one. What decides it is whether the sections themselves are still straight and solid.
You get told which side of that line your door is on, with the reason. A customer here wrote that another company told her she needed things she did not need. That is the thing to avoid, and the way to avoid it is to be shown the failed part.
Getting here
Locust is a few minutes from the shop, straight along 24-27. It is close enough that a follow up visit is not an event, and close enough that we are usually already going through it on the way to somewhere else.

I have been using Entrance Masters for almost 2 years, and from the first encounter the service has been absolutely fantastic. I had been having the worst issues with my garage since the recent purchase of my home, and they have been there every step of the way working to try to figure out the issue. Ricky tried every cost effective option he could before just saying you need to replace the motor, which most companies would not have. The motor was replaced a week ago along with some other updates and my garage closes and opens as it should and it is so smooth and quiet now.
When our residential gate stopped working I called them for a quote. Ricky was extremely responsive (even though he was out of town). He quickly scheduled his tech to come out and within a couple of hours he had our gate working again. He also replaced sensors on a garage door that had not been working properly for a couple of years. Once Ricky was back in town he scheduled to come back and button up a couple of loose ends and bring us some much needed clickers for the gate. Fantastic experience, excellent communication, skilled workmanship, extremely reasonable pricing.

Our garage door looks amazing and Ricky provided top notch customer service. First he was willing to communicate via calls, text and email. This itself is huge. So many companies today want you calling the office and email only which slows production and communication. Next he really laid out all the options and explained them in great detail.
